Do you have a kiddo in your family that is a pinball fanatic? Do you want to?? Bring them to the arcade!
Come join us for the first of many “Pinheads: The Next Generation,” youth tournaments! Meet friends, learn some new skills, and practice good sportsmanship!
Tournaments will occur on the second Saturday of each month.
Each month before the tournament begins, there will be a small presentation on how the tournaments work; standard pinball terms, sportsmanship, and maybe a few tips on how to play your best game.
This event will be Junior IFPA sanctioned! Players will earn World Pinball Player Ranking (WPPR) points which will be reported on the ifpapinball.com web site.
The entry fee is $2 per player, with CASH prizes for the top 3 players.
The prize pool will include 100% of the entry fees, plus $15 extra contributed by Waterland Arcade.
Signups open at 2 pm, flippers up at 2:30pm.
-17 and under only
– 3 strike knockout (everyone will play in at least 3 rounds)
– one-on-one, 2-player games
In the 3-strike format, players will be randomly matched with a new opponent each round. Players continue playing until they have lost three games or have won the tournament.
If at least 8 players show up, we may use a partial round robin format (max matchplay) instead of the 3-strike format.
This alternate format allows all players to play at least 7 one-on-one games. If 9 or more players show up, all players will play at least 8 one-on-one games.
At the end of the partial round-robin tournament, the four players with the most wins will advance to a final consisting of two 4-player games on two randomly selected machines. If there are ties, we will use a tiebreaker based on which player’s opponents had the most wins (strength of schedule).
The overall winner will be the player who plays the best on the two final games combined. Each game will award 7, 5, 3, or 1 point to 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th place respectively. The overall final score will be the sum of the placement points from the two games.
Ties in the final will be broken by most first places, followed by most second places, etc. If there is still a tie, then ties will be broken by who did best in the second 4-player game.
